Ovo Packer — New-Generation Modular Egg Packing Technology
Ovo Packer P40, PX40 and P20 are modular egg packers developed to automatically place and pack eggs into different tray and carton formats. Their design prioritizes not only high capacity but also cleaning, maintenance, service access and adaptability to different packaging formats.
What truly sets Ovo Packer apart is not only its capacity, but its fully modular egg packing architecture, designed around controlled egg handling, easy cleaning, fast maintenance and flexible packaging formats. High capacity, modular structure, tool-free removal, easy cleaning and maintenance, parametric settings, smart fault detection, remote service and broad tray/carton compatibility — all united in a single design approach.
01
The Ovo Packer story began in 2013. Back then, serviceability solutions for egg setting machines mostly focused on making the accumulator or feeding units at the infeed removable. We asked a different question: "Why should only one part of the machine be modular — why not all of it?"
The work that began with this idea was developed within a TÜBİTAK-supported R&D project, and the first Ovo Packer prototype was built in 2013. The architecture that splits the entire machine into modules later became a patented design solution — and today it defines how the whole system works, from design to maintenance.
02
One of Ovo Packer's key engineering features is that the machine is built from independently removable modules. It is divided by function into the Accumulator Belt, Lane, Roller, Silicone Disc, Elevator, Servo Conveyor, Outfeed Conveyor and Denester modules.
03
In Ovo Packer, modularity means more than "removable parts". The whole system is designed so modules can be easily detached, cleaned, serviced and returned to exactly the same working position. One of its most important engineering advantages is that when a module is refitted, the machine's working geometry and settings are preserved — production continues without lengthy readjustment.
The modular structure gives the operator easy access to hard-to-reach areas; a module can be removed from the machine and cleaned outside the work area. This simplifies cleaning, reduces service time and shortens line restart time.
04
Ovo Packer P40 and PX40 are developed to run at 40,000 eggs/hour on 30-egg trays, while the new Ovo Packer P20 answers more compact production needs at 20,000 eggs/hour. Capacity figures may vary with different tray and carton types.
The accumulator belt gathers loosely arriving eggs in a controlled way; the lane module checks eggs one by one and passes them to the roller system. The rollers keep them moving in order, the silicone discs guide and rotate them, and the elevator module carries them into the setting system — placing eggs into trays or cartons under full control.
05
The mechanical and production settings the operator needs are clear and parametric: operating parameters are set by the tray type selected on screen, and lane infeeds, spoon-to-elevator distance, horizontal egg spacing, lane width, drop height, tray height and alignment, and denester settings are all easily adjusted.
The control infrastructure uses Beckhoff industrial PC technology. The system continuously monitors its own status; when a problem occurs, the operator sees a visual indication of the affected section rather than a generic alarm. Visual fault reporting helps the operator locate the module faster and keeps the service process under control. The industrial PC platform also enables remote service and technical support over an authorized connection — for machines running in different countries, initial diagnosis can be done remotely.
06
Ovo Packer's specially developed Denester mechanism handles 30-egg cardboard trays; 15.5 lb, 17 lb and 20 lb class cardboard trays; 10, 12, 15, 18 and 20-egg lidded cartons; 10, 12 and 15-egg clear lidded cartons; and 30-egg clear trays.
The parametric setting system and special Denester design make format changeover easy. Rather than being optimized for a single tray format, Ovo Packer is a flexible setting platform that supports multiple packaging options.
